Starting from the interior decoration that combines the variety of styles – including Oriental classics, Art Nouveau, baroque, minimalism – everything in “Pena” is full of surprises.

So, why has the restaurant got such an unusual name as “Pena” (“Foam”)? Perhaps, that’s because the foam is commonly associated with something light, elegant and ephemeral like a gourmet’s sensations when he’s trying a delicate dish. Or perhaps, that’s because everywhere in “Pena” – in its interior, its cuisine and service – there is a charming light harmony present…
The place itself is unobtrusive with all the details chosen with impeccable taste. Light-gray aprons of waiters silently moving to and fro go in tune with the interior.

The service is excellent. In “Pena” everything is performed rightly, just in time and with no unnecessary pathos which is quite a rarity for Kiev in comparison with other restaurants. Elegant interior moderateness doesn’t distract from the most important aspect of “Pena” which is, naturally, the food. Only the terrace stands out: it’s a fenced from frosts winter garden with its green plants concealing from sleety winter while in summer it transforms into a green lawn with flowers all around.

As for the food, “Pena” offers high-rate menu with such meals as Teriyaki duck with Japanese salad with pineapples and plums, scallop ragout seasoned with saffron sauce, marinated eel and foie gras, Atlantic halibut and freshwater lobster with black pasta and sauce, fried duck brisket with pear marinated in blackberries with the Chinese orange sauce… This list is almost infinite.
Meanwhile, desserts in “Pena” also deserve compliments.

Try, for instance, citrus salad that includes sorbet from mandarin Margarita, grapefruit caviar, orange fresh juice and white chocolate powder. Moreover, this splendour is served in menthol and eucalyptus foam…
All in all, virtuosic gastronomy, harmonic interior and impeccable service of “Pena” attracts politicians and businessmen, show-business stars and famous TV-hosts.
