One of the oldest cinemas in the Ukrainian capital “Kyiv” was opened on 23 November in 1952. Its construction had begun before the war started. In 2000 “Kyiv” received the first over 50 years reconstruction.
In present days thanks to the brand new innovations and solutions proudly bearing the new name CULTURAL CINEMA CENTER “KYIV” the venue has become one of the most exemplary cinemas in Ukraine and one of the favorite places for visiting among the locals and guests of the capital.
In 2002 after its renovation (up to new 300 seats) the “Red Room” renews its screenings which is followed in 2003 by the restart of screens in the updated “Blue Room” (now disposing 330 seats). Nowadays the cinema offers its viewers to catch the latest world movie hits.
The rooms are equipped with the most modern technologies including Digital Equipment Dolby Digital EX (the audio system that creates the “effect of presence”) thanks to which even the most subtle nuances affect viewers. Moreover, a rear channel has been added to the “Blue Room” equipment package. Furthermore for even more cosiness the rooms have been provided with comfortable chairs with armrests and supports for beverages and pop corn, and the distance between the rows increased up to 110 cm.
In addition to that “Kyiv” has become the recognized Mecca for film gourmets as it hosts the leading national film festivals on a regular basis. It’s become a good tradition to celebrate the premiers of the newest world blockbusters getting involved the world stars and directors such as Vincent Cassel, Gérard Depardieu, Alain Delon, Darren Aronofsky and many others.
Those who prefer arthouse films will appraise a new cozy room “Cinemateka” on the second floor as it was opened specially for screenings of the indie movies. It is equipped with modern audio and video systems. Rather often the room hosts press-conferences, seminars and company presentations. The room is air-conditioned and quite comfortable for viewing films.
All things considered, classical architecture with contemporary repertoire and technical equipment make the strong alliance and create a unique aesthetic experience which “Kyiv” is known and loved for.
